Februay 2011
after months of keeping an eye on Nova Scotia real estate listings online, dc declares "I think I've found the land for us!"

April/May 2011
dc negotiates a price with the seller, via email.

June 2011
dc travels to Nova Scotia to stand on the land, and buys it. sk wires funds from NZ, and the deal is sealed.

November/December 2011
Friends (and architects) T and J visit us in Wellington, and design a floorplan for the house we'll build "one day".

Jan - July 2012
We spend hours researching builders and landscapers in Nova Scotia. We zero in on Denim Homes and Down to Earth landscaping. We make contact and arrange to meet them.

August 2012
We go to Wolfville, meet the builders and landscapers, and shake hands over the plans.

2013
We work with Denim Homes, finessing the floor plans, working out the elevations, finalising the budget.

July 2014
We sign the contract with the builder

August 2014
We go to Wolfville to start making selections for all the bits in the house, and watch the bulldozer start moving the earth around.

September 2014
Excavation and foundations get started.

October 2014
Foundation finished. Power to the site.
